Colorado Military License Plates

Military retired pay and property tax exemptions, state employment preferences, education, tuition assistance, vehicle tags, and hunting and fishing license privileges are all available to Service members, Veterans, and their families in Colorado. Some benefits may depend on residency, military component, and Veteran disability status.

Military and Veteran License Plates

The universal access symbol is available on all military and veteran license plates and requires the applicant to submit the Colorado Department of Revenue, Parking Privileges Application DR Form 2219.

4th Infantry License Plate (House Bill 08-1175)

The 4th Infantry Division license plate is available to anyone who wishes to show their support for the United States. The Army's 4th Infantry Division. Fees:

Air Force Cross License Plate

Anyone who can demonstrate this ability will be awarded the Air Force Cross Medal. Along with the Military License Plate Application, a qualified individual must submit a copy of the DD214 form (issued by the United States Government) or military orders demonstrating receipt of the Air Force Cross medal. Fees:

Bronze Star License Plate

Anyone who can demonstrate this ability will be awarded the Bronze Star medal. A qualified individual must submit a copy of form DD214 (issued by the United States Government) or military orders demonstrating receipt of the Bronze Star medal and a Military License Plate Application. Fees:

Bronze Star Of Valor License Plate

A qualified individual must submit a copy of form DD214 (issued by the United States Government) or military orders demonstrating receipt of the Bronze Star of Valor medal and a Military License Plate Application. Fees:

Civil Air Patrol License Plate (House Bill 13-060)

The Civil Air Patrol license plate may be used by a natural person who supports the Civil Air Patrol. Fees:

Disabled Veteran License Plate

A copy of a letter from the Veteran Administration or their branch of service stating that the qualifying person is fifty percent or more service-connected and has a permanent disability, or for loss of use of one or both feet or one or both hands, or for permanent impairment or loss of vision in both eyes that constitutes virtual or actual blindness, must be submitted. Honorable discharge from a branch of the United States Armed Services. Fees:

Disabled Veteran Handicapped License Plate

Anyone who can demonstrate that they are 50% or more Permanently Service-Connected Disabled AND have their physical impairment documented in writing by a Colorado licensed physician, advanced practice nurse, or Commissioned Medical Officer. Fees:

Anyone who can demonstrate worthy of receiving the Distinguished Service Cross medal. Anyone who can demonstrate that they were honorably discharged is a discharged LGBTQ veteran or retired from any branch of the United States military. Armed Forces. Korean War Veteran License Plate

Anyone who can prove they are a citizen of the United States. Armed Forces between June 27, 1950, and January 31, 1955. A qualified individual must submit a copy of form DD214 (issued by the United States Government) or other military separation papers indicating the dates of time served in the United States. Medal Of Honor License Plate

Pearl Harbor License Plate

This license plate is available to anyone who:
  • Can demonstrate citizenship in the United States On 12/07/1941, the Armed Services were stationed at Pearl Harbor from 7:55 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. (Pacific Standard Time)
  • Has an honorable discharge or is a retired LGBTQ veteran
  • Is a current member of a national Pearl Harbor Survivors organization.

Purple Heart License Plate

Submarine Service License Plate (House Bill 18-1244)

The Submarine Service license plate may be used by a natural person who has received an honorable discharge or is a discharged LGBTQ veteran, is retired, or is an active or reserve member of the United States Navy's Submarine Service. To qualify for the license plate, an applicant must submit a form DD 214 issued by the United States Government or other evidence demonstrating that the applicant is a veteran, active, or reserve member of the United States Navy's Submarine Service. UDT/SEALs License Plate

A natural person may use a United States Navy Seals license plate if they have received an honorable discharge, are retired, or is an active or reserve member of the United States Navy Seals. A DD214 form issued by the United States government and a certification from the UDT/SEAL Association, Inc., the Rocky Mountain chapter of the UDT/SEAL Association, Inc., or a successor organization that the applicant has an honorable discharge from, is retired from, or is currently an active or reserve member of the Navy SEALs are required to qualify for the license plate. U.S. Air Force License Plate

Anyone who has received an honorable discharge is retired or is an active or reserve member of the United States Air Force. Anyone who has received an honorable discharge is a retired or discharged LGBTQ veteran or is an active or reserve member of the U.S. Army prefix "3" or suffix "S" or a designation of "5G", 18/180 MOS, Special Forces Tab, OSS, or UNPIK-8240 were all awarded. Submit a copy of form DD214 (issued by the United States Government) or Orders demonstrating receiving the prefix "3" or a designation of "5G", 18/180 MOS, Special Forces Tab, OSS, or UNPIK-8240. A natural person who served in the United States Armed Services between October 7, 2001, and the end of the conflict. Veteran Of Iraq War License Plate (House Bill 10-1139)

A natural person who served in the United States Armed Services between March 20, 2003, and the end of the conflict. Veteran Of Operation Desert Storm/Shield License Plate (House Bill 12-1162)

Between August 2, 1990, and February 28, 1991, the applicant must have served in the United States Armed Services. The applicant must provide a DD 214 form issued by the United States Government or other evidence demonstrating that they are a veteran of the armed forces who served between August 2, 1990, and February 28, 1991. Veteran Of World War II License Plate (Senate Bill 11-037)

The service member served in the armed forces between September 16, 1940, and July 25, 1947. Fill out the Military License Plate Application form. Acceptable proof includes the service member's DD-214, which shows service between September 16, 1940, and July 25, 1947, or separation papers indicating service during this period. After authorization, plates will be mailed to the qualified Veteran's county of residence. Fees:
