CO ID Cards
Getting a Colorado ID card is going to follow a process that is similar to that of getting your driver's license, except there is going to be any testing needed for your ID. There is also no age requirement to receive your ID, with many teens these days carrying their ID cards for proof of identification that is often required. If you have no other form of photo identification or do not plan to drive in Colorado, an ID card is very important. In most cases, even with another form of photo ID, proving your identity is going to require that you show a valid Colorado Identification Card. Anything from writing a personal check to getting on-board an aircraft will require that you have some sort of ID, with most cases requiring an ID card. Once you reach the age of 18, it is mandatory that you carry identification with you, and an ID card is going to be needed if you want to make adult-only purchases, such as cigarettes. When you turn 21, your drinking privileges will not be honored if you don't have identification, and without a driver's license, an ID card is the next best thing.
**It is important to note that at no time are you allowed to hold both a Colorado driver's license and state ID card.
