Illinois Personalized Plates

Showing your spirit on the Illinois roadways is something that many drivers enjoy.  In Illinois, there are a variety of plates to choose from which you can choose when you register your vehicle.  Or you can upgrade your plates at any time.  Licensing, is in charge of issuing the personalized plates, and provides you with a great selection of plates.

If you happen to be a driver with a disability, you are offered special disabled plates that are available to only those drivers with disabilities.  These plates are designed to give disabled drivers special privileges such as parking in the front parking spaces adjacent to various buildings such as shopping malls.

Personalized Illinois License Plates

Personalized plates, also called vanity plates, are also available in the state of Illinois.  Personalized plates are ones which the owner of the vehicle personalizes themselves.  The cost for these plates are $94 in addition to the normal registration fees.  Visit  Personalized License Plates, for more information.

Antique Plates

If you are an Illinois driver that owns an antique car then applying for antique license plates may be an option.  There are a few guidelines which must be met which include:

  • The vehicle must 25 years old or older
  • The vehicle must have the same appearance as the year it was manufactured
  • The vehicle must be safe to operate on the Illinois roadways and highways

Surrendering Your Plates

If you are moving to a new state within the United States, the state of Illinois does not require that you surrender you license plates.
