1 When you sell a vehicle in FL State, you must have the title to the vehicle. FL State requires that you print and sign you name in Section A of the title in front of a notary public.
2. The buyer will also need to print and sign their name to the title in front of a notary public.
3. Remove the tags from the vehicle and surrender them to DMV or keep them.
Buying a Vehicle in FL State
1. Make sure that you have your auto insurance handled.
2. Make sure that the seller has complete their portion of the title.
3. Take the vehicle title to a notary public to print and sign you name on it.
4.Ensure the odometer reading is recorded on the title.
5. Transfer the title to your name at the DMV. You will have the option or ordering new plates or transfer the plates from your old vehicle.
FL Vehicle Transactions without Paperwork
When buying or selling a vehicle in FL State, it is essential that you have the vehicle title. The title is required prior to registering the vehicle. Replacement titles can be requested through your local DMV office.
If you are the buyer of a vehicle that the title is not being offered, do not buy the vehicle as you may be purchasing a stolen or branded as salvaged vehicle. In many cases, not having the title to the vehicle means that there is something that the seller does not want disclosed.
