Getting Your Connecticut Vehicle Registration Paperwork Together

Dealers most often complete the titling and registration of vehicles they sale. You will be responsible for ensuring that they do so. All other car buyers will need to perform the vehicle registration request, themselves.

To complete your vehicle registration, you will need to gather up the following documents:

  • Vehicle title.
  • Proof of Connecticut auto insurance.
  • Form H-13 Registration and Certificate of Title Application.
  • If your vehicle was purchased from a Connecticut dealer you will need to complete the sales tax information on the application, and you must submit a Federal Odometer Statement for vehicles purchased from a dealer or leasing company.
If your vehicle is an out of state vehicle, Connecticut State requires that you have an emissions test inspection and / or VIN verification. To find out if your vehicle is exempt, click here.
